Description: Tevi is the Cornish word for grow. This beautiful, oval extending table is made out of solid oak; and that includes the extending mechanism. It was commissioned to sit in the large kitchen of a family of four who like to entertain. It was important that when just the immediate family were dining, the table still felt intimate and yet could sit eight. With the addition of the leaf, the table grows to seat ten. The leaf is stored on top of a side table, which sits in a shallow alcove alongside.  The decision to make the extending mechanism out of wood really excited me. I am not a huge fan of the ‘off the shelf’ metal mechanisms as you can see them when the table extends and they distract from the overall feel of the piece. Also, the wooden mechanism has a wonderfully quiet and satisfying sound and feel.
